Nolita (North of Little Italy)

After checking out the I'm Shoe in Love bazaar at the NBC Tent (which by the way had really cute shoes to sell, but none were what I needed), my mom and I went to check out Nolita (North of Little Italy) at BGC Central for a quick afternoon snack.

Nolita's fuss-free, laid-back ambiance is not for the primadonna. You have to fall in line to order and pay your pizza and other grub. Menu's at that chalkboard, which reminded me of Baguio City's Pizza Volante.

How creative! Table lamps were used as wall decorations.
View of BGC Central

Food is good great. But pricey--you have to shed about Php500/person. Meh. Pizzas were priced Php160-250 per big slice. And I mean really BIG slice of pizza.

My mom's Cheeseburger pizza
My Spinach & Artichoke pizza
What I like about their pizza is the thin, chewy crust--New York pizza it is! You may want to use a fork and table knife as the crust tends to get a bit soggy. I know I just broke the rule: to eat with your hands.

Honey Garlic Buffalo Wings with yogurt dip
This I ate with my hands. I like that the wings weren't too spicy.

Looking forward to eat here again!

New Zealand Natural

I don't care if the weather's this cold and hazy. This new ice cream joint, which isn't Italian gellato nor Korean ice cream deserves a blogpost!

We tried this New Zealand Natural Premium ice cream. They have a stall at Robinson's Manila, 2nd floor of Pedro Gil wing. The ice cream is really good as it is made of dairy cream from NZ cows. They also offer a wide range of really yummy flavors.

What we tried: Mint Choc Kisses + Hokey Pokey.

Darling it's better down where it's wetter!

Up on the shore, they work all day. Out in the sun, they slave away.

So during one of the free days (from hospital), my boyfriend and I had one walk in the park--Manila Ocean Park.

Dog Days are Over

Or maybe not...

I've already survived a month of my post-graduate internship--11 months to go! And obviously, this blogpost is a month late and is past the graduation season. (Heck, it's even back to school season butwhocares)

Hello. I am Hayzle A. Mallari, M.D.
This is the 5th graduation of my life. My med school graduation was held on the 22nd of April, which is the day before my birthday and is (one of) the best birthday gifts I could ever receive! I am beyond words happy and I will fail to articulate how I felt that day.

Food Coma in May

Recent events in April had caused my appetite to dwindle down plus the fact that I knew I had to shed some pounds for the beach trips. My usual voracious appetite died down in April so that I can only take in water... and coffee, black coffee. T'was a bit depressing and disappointing, I tell ya.

Come May that things were a bit better and this appetite is back with a vengeance; hence, this blogpost of recent gastronomic adventures around the Metro.

Hello! This blog is not dead.

Let me break this ongoing silence in this blog.

Nope, I did not abandon this blog. It's just that there were unexpected (and sad) turns of events that made me not myself the past few days or weeks. Indeed, April had been very bittersweet and bipolar for me. Ok. That just tickled your inner chismoso/chismosa. But I won't tell unless under the influence of alcohol. Haha.

Aside from the ~drama lulz~, April had been about graduation, birthday and other things that screamed summer vacation. All these I shall blog. Soon.

Meanwhile, let me leave you with this photo of my dessert plate during one of my gastronomic adventures at Buffet101 with my very awesome groupmates.

Quick update: This has been March 2012

After a few days or weeks of slacking off from blogging, I am back. I was meaning to blog earlier since clerkship has finally ended in March; however, there came the Holy Week which was mostly spent in La Union where I do not have a decent internet connection but an awesome beach backyard. Then, the make-up duties for my tardiness and lost radio plates, boo.

Meanwhile, this has been March 2012. Crazy lovely, busy and bittersweet March.

On the way home from Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City.

Erratic weather during March. Bipolar. Hate the rain. Hate the sun. Just bipolar.

Five years. Beat that. Five years of lesexytime love...and probably a little hate aka petty fights. Also, this photo collage makes a good documentation of my long hair-short hair adventures. But with the same guy <3

Chest X-ray of one of our patients in Amang Rodriguez Medical Center.
Apparently, she accidentally swallowed a coin--probably a five-peso coin.

Outside rotation for surgery was held in Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City for 10 days. Ten days of from-duty-from status sans preduty. What I love most about outside rotations such as this was the time of commute. It was 'thinking time' for me sans worrying about being late and whatever horrors that await me.

Counting down!

OSCE muna. Or was this repeat OSCE?

And then, clerkship ends. Where to next?

Sugar Rushing with J.Cuppacakes

With the sudden rise of cupcakes along with other cute things into stardom, there's J.Cuppacakes that serves you interesting cupcakes with more than the usual concotions and, of course, the cutest/prettiest designs.

Art in your cravings with J.Cuppacakes
OK. So I am not a cupcake critic and not even a fan of such. But sweet toothed-self isn't going to resist the sugar rush.

At the Madison Square: Sunrise Buckets + Mio Gelati

On duty on a Sunday isn't so bad, after all.

I was with my three loves last Sunday--chicken wings, gellato, and the boyfriend.

OK...maybe four to add beer.

Weekender: Supersale Bazaar

Photo c/o Beautynomics.com

Attended last weekend's Supersale Bazaar at World Trade Center. On a from-duty status, my groupmates (Jessa, Jamie and Abby), Tel and I headed straight to WTC.

Peter Pan detachable collar from Miss Sartorial
Nyx Round lipstick in Pandora

It was probably because I was on a from-duty status on a GS ward rotation that I was tired and sleepy so, I wasn't able to take pictures. Also, although I have quite some cash stash, I wasn't able to shop for a lot of items.
I am, however, in love with the stuff I was able to buy...like that Nyx Round lipstick in Pandora which is a deep purple shade. It also has more red in it than blue. I also have a new iPhone case, which I just so love (not in photos, though). I also bought this Peter Pan detachable collar with ribbon closure from Miss Sartorial.

Craving: French Baker's Choco Nutella Crepe

This was last Sunday's dessert.

French Baker may not have the best crepes, but this one is a badass. A Nutella-filled crepe drizzled with chocolate sauce, topped with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream and nuts. Chocolate lovers, do I hear you say yes?

Something close to home (and/or heart)

This post is a week late, but let me share with you how my Valentine's day was spent.

I am, however, not the biggest fan of Valentine's day. It's not that I despise this day, I am just not the Vday kind of person. But who am I to resist romance when it is right in the smack of my face? *giggles all around*

We didn't go out on the 14th. He was still home in Baguio, though Manila-bound. I was drop-dead asleep the 14th as I was post-duty. And, of course, I dreaded the crowd, the traffic, and the Vday hoopla. We went out the next day, 15th, which I thought was just perfect! I would be on a preduty status, not much crowd, and... this would cover 3 celebrations--Vday, his birthday, and our 59th month together (Yes, we are a month shy away from being 5 years together).

Surprise, surprise!

Friday last week (02/03/12) we threw a surprise birthday party for our fraternity brother whom we fondly call 'dad', Dr. Romeo Encanto at Casa Francesco/Bronx. Dr. Encanto, whom I shall refer to as 'dad' throughout this post, has been very supportive of our fraternity and sorority and has, indeed, played being the dad of this brotherhood and sisterhood. Dad is a surgeon and has been one of my surgery preceptors in 3rd year.

Here goes the photos of the party c/o Jessa Marapao.

The main man/birthday celebrant arrives!

He said he wasn't surprised. He said he had his 'diagnostic clues'.
How could we not love dad and his wit.

Your hosts for the night. Me and Brod Dane.

As to what I wore, I had that skirt for ages. That was the skirt I wore during an after-party for my junior prom in high school. Hoho! And it still fits me perfectly. And those shoes, I bought them at PeopleArePeople in my 3rd year in college but never got the chance to wear it until this party.

This is why I am fat.

Some of our photos from the photobooth!

Apparently, this party has also turned as a get-together for the fraternity and sorority. I love, love my brods and sisses! <3

Down with URTI

Or Upper Respiratory Tract Infection.

Been suffering this painful and itchy throat since the day before yesterday. I tried to look at my tonsils and they are unsurprisingly erythematous. Now, I have stuffed nose. There is a slight body weakness but, hell, no loss of appetite haha!

Let me stop ranting about this inconvenience before this blogpost turns into a patient history database. Anyway, I would have wanted to blog about a surprise bday party last Friday but I wanted to rest since I am also on a from duty status. Also, I am blogging using this blogger app!

Bad vibes aside, yesterday was probably among the best (read: most benign) duty I've ever had. I slept from 11pm til 4am since we only had to monitor 1 patient q4 (vital signs to be monitored every 4 hours). ONE PATIENT! #slacker

Also rewarded myself earlier today with a quick full body massage! And now munching oranges coz I am trying not to take antibiotics (be organic, hrhr!). Temple running, too!
