Nolita (North of Little Italy)

After checking out the I'm Shoe in Love bazaar at the NBC Tent (which by the way had really cute shoes to sell, but none were what I needed), my mom and I went to check out Nolita (North of Little Italy) at BGC Central for a quick afternoon snack.

Nolita's fuss-free, laid-back ambiance is not for the primadonna. You have to fall in line to order and pay your pizza and other grub. Menu's at that chalkboard, which reminded me of Baguio City's Pizza Volante.

How creative! Table lamps were used as wall decorations.
View of BGC Central

Food is good great. But pricey--you have to shed about Php500/person. Meh. Pizzas were priced Php160-250 per big slice. And I mean really BIG slice of pizza.

My mom's Cheeseburger pizza
My Spinach & Artichoke pizza
What I like about their pizza is the thin, chewy crust--New York pizza it is! You may want to use a fork and table knife as the crust tends to get a bit soggy. I know I just broke the rule: to eat with your hands.

Honey Garlic Buffalo Wings with yogurt dip
This I ate with my hands. I like that the wings weren't too spicy.

Looking forward to eat here again!

New Zealand Natural

I don't care if the weather's this cold and hazy. This new ice cream joint, which isn't Italian gellato nor Korean ice cream deserves a blogpost!

We tried this New Zealand Natural Premium ice cream. They have a stall at Robinson's Manila, 2nd floor of Pedro Gil wing. The ice cream is really good as it is made of dairy cream from NZ cows. They also offer a wide range of really yummy flavors.

What we tried: Mint Choc Kisses + Hokey Pokey.

Food Coma in May

Recent events in April had caused my appetite to dwindle down plus the fact that I knew I had to shed some pounds for the beach trips. My usual voracious appetite died down in April so that I can only take in water... and coffee, black coffee. T'was a bit depressing and disappointing, I tell ya.

Come May that things were a bit better and this appetite is back with a vengeance; hence, this blogpost of recent gastronomic adventures around the Metro.

Sugar Rushing with J.Cuppacakes

With the sudden rise of cupcakes along with other cute things into stardom, there's J.Cuppacakes that serves you interesting cupcakes with more than the usual concotions and, of course, the cutest/prettiest designs.

Art in your cravings with J.Cuppacakes
OK. So I am not a cupcake critic and not even a fan of such. But sweet toothed-self isn't going to resist the sugar rush.

At the Madison Square: Sunrise Buckets + Mio Gelati

On duty on a Sunday isn't so bad, after all.

I was with my three loves last Sunday--chicken wings, gellato, and the boyfriend.

OK...maybe four to add beer.

Craving: French Baker's Choco Nutella Crepe

This was last Sunday's dessert.

French Baker may not have the best crepes, but this one is a badass. A Nutella-filled crepe drizzled with chocolate sauce, topped with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream and nuts. Chocolate lovers, do I hear you say yes?

Something close to home (and/or heart)

This post is a week late, but let me share with you how my Valentine's day was spent.

I am, however, not the biggest fan of Valentine's day. It's not that I despise this day, I am just not the Vday kind of person. But who am I to resist romance when it is right in the smack of my face? *giggles all around*

We didn't go out on the 14th. He was still home in Baguio, though Manila-bound. I was drop-dead asleep the 14th as I was post-duty. And, of course, I dreaded the crowd, the traffic, and the Vday hoopla. We went out the next day, 15th, which I thought was just perfect! I would be on a preduty status, not much crowd, and... this would cover 3 celebrations--Vday, his birthday, and our 59th month together (Yes, we are a month shy away from being 5 years together).

Crisostomo + Solenad

This is a backlog post from 2011.

Photos were taken in Solenad in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. We were supposed to have a quick stopover at Solenad for lunch at Crisostomo en route to Tagaytay. Apparently, we stayed longer than expected.

One day before Christmas

And I am off duty! Yey! And dad is home! Double yey, yey!
First off...we went to MOA for lunch at Ebun.

My Ubas shake.
Okoy
Sinigang na ulo ng maya-maya sa miso
Crispy Pata. Stroke calls.
Lo and behold, it was the MMFF parade at MOA awhile ago.

After MOA, we headed to Duty Free. I am not exactly the biggest fan of Duty Free Philippines coz there isn't much that they offer except that the goodies are cheaper.  I didn't buy that much except for a few make-up essentials (read: new Mac lipstick). And damn whole lot of chocolates for the death DM Type II of me.

I love you!!!

Ultimate Taste Test!

Last November 17, boyfriend and I went out to celebrate our 56th month together *cheeseballs!*; hence, we thought of spending the night by attending The Ultimate Taste Test 7.0 at Mercato. That is to deviate from the what is usual candlelit dinners (which isn't exactly my style, hehe!). We didn't actually plan to attend UTT. Good thing there were still tickets for walk-ins.

Food Coma: Lugang Cafe, Stackers Burger

As much as I wanted to stop posting about food, I just can't coz eating out is probably how most of my duty-less days are being spent.

Long Weekend!

I never really got to have the whole 4-day break, but was blessed able to enjoy 1-and-a-half day break from the dengue-and-pneumonia-craze in our pedia rotation.  It really feels great to be waking up on whatever I feel like waking up to, without worrying about getting crossed out even just for a day! I am now back at 4North for duty and it's relatively quiet. I hope this day will be admission-free!

I was supposed to watch Cars 2 with boyfriend, but the queue in the parking lot in Resorts World was too long for my patience; hence, we opted to go to Tagaytay. Obviously, Tagaytay is my/our favorite weekend/holiday getaway.

King Wan

When it's lunchtime, we call for King Wan delivery. The food is rather cheap (less than P100!) and really, really good. We love their tinapa (smoked fish) rice. My personal favorite is spicy chicken wings with tinapa rice (not in photos).
Baby Back Ribs with Tinapa Rice
Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs with Tinapa Rice

PS We soo love their tinapa rice that we pair it with any kind of dish, not minding if it would be a good combo. Hayaan mo nang mahilo yung taste buds ko!

Things I love Thursdays 2

Blogging while on duty to keep myself up while monitoring/eyedrops from 12am til 3 am. Here goes my TILT-clinical clerk on duty edition (technically, it's a Friday already because it is already past 12mn).

My half-full (coz I am an optimist) Roasted Milk Tea with 50% nata and 50%  egg pudding
  • Serenitea. Serenitea has become a habit for us. We would have our milk teas delivered every duty since the first time we had it when we were still rotating in Psych. My personal Serenitea favorites are: Roasted Milk Tea, Jasmine Milk Tea, and Hawaiian Milk Tea (which really tastes like Hawaiian, whatever Hawaiian is). I like it served with 50% sugar/sweetness with 50% nata and 50% egg pudding.

Photo from their website
  • ChicBoy. I've learned about ChicBoy through my boyfriend and his brods who frequent their branch in Makati Ave. Now, ChicBoy has branched out and their branch in Timog Ave. is the nearest one to UERM. I love their Inihaw na liempo (grilled pork belly) and Cebu Lechon Liempo meals. Also, 5 spoons for their Lumpiang Sariwa!

Photo from here
  • Zumba. Remember HipHop Abs? Zumba is something like that-a dance exercise although Zumba focuses on the cardio. This is just soo fun especially that I miss dancing so much :( You might be wondering why Zumba is in this list. Yes, we Zumba while on duty. LOL.

Photo from here
  • My Sassy Girl. Probably One of my favorite movies! I've watched this more than 10 times since I first saw this in college. I saw this movie again awhile ago while waiting for my monitoring deck. Benign duty, it is!

  • Jelly Belly's Bean Boozled. You may think that the two jelly beans are the same, but they aren't! This has become our favorite especially when tricking our favorite residents. Teehee.

The Three Hungry JI's.
